“Anyone can fight the battle for just one day,” John Maxwell.
We all have those days when we look at our “to do” list and just can’t believe the number of things we need to accomplish. When I feel that kind of overwhelm, I try to remind myself that I can accomplish anything if I focus on doing one thing at a time until I finish what needs to be done.
I love this quote from John Maxwell’s book, Attitude 101, because it reminds us that we can succeed at doing anything if we focus on having a “can do” attitude for just one day.
Maxwell followed this advice by saying we run into problems when we focus too much on what happened yesterday and what needs to occur tomorrow.
This way of thinking certainly seems to be where stress originates. It also probably is a factor in why we feel overwhelmed and unsatisfied at the end of the day by what we’ve accomplished.
Let’s try from now on to focus just on fighting the battle for just one day. Winning one day at a time will really add up in the long run.
Let’s Talk Nerdy!
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Is there something special you say to yourself to stay productive or something you do that helps keep you motivated?
